Testimonials

I first encountered Kris when I had a painful shoulder injury. I worked with her for over a year. In that time she was able to individualize a program for me that helped me to recover from my injury, and gain greater physical strength. She instructed me in Pilates. Her kind, patient nature and intelligence made each session a wonderful experience. I was very sad when Kris moved and I have yet to find an instructor to equal her. I hope that each of you reading this will have the opportunity to get to know her and experience her teaching skills and kind thoughtful instruction.

KETTLEBELLS!! I began the workout in April 05’, and since then, my golf has improved (hit it further) and I have much better endurance. The strength and balance has greatly helped water skiing and I can not wait to snow ski! My clothes fit differently and better. The best part of all is the “comments” about my butt. Someone asked the other day, “Were you born with that or do you work on that butt???” At my age, it is good to know they are still looking!!! Kris has made the workouts fun and challenging. It is the first class I have ever stayed in. The KB classes are fun, different, tough and the rewards…. PRICELESS!!!

The Kettle Bells workout with Kris is such an excellent education in body physics and mechanics. This is the exercise class I have been looking for for years! It combines strength and endurance training with a fun class. Kettle Bells has helped strengthen my tennis game and improve my golf swing. Kris’ expertise in physical therapy was an added bonus for me; she was able to help me through a back and shoulder injury and gave me the information and exercises to understand the why and how of helping myself toward recovery.

First of all, I am a 53 year old woman who was very active as a teen and up to age 30. I do not like formal exercise classes that jump around and women are dressed to go out, make up and all. I have had a personal trainer all through my 40's. She was wonderful and inspired me to keep going. I have not done an exercise class since.

I discovered KB’s, due to my 29 year old daughter and have loved it since. I jumped into a class of kettle bells in Boise, Idaho, led by Kris McFerren, who made it fun and worth my time. It is not an easy thing to learn. Kris taught each person, watched each person, and helped get technique down.

I have seen instant results, soreness and loved every minute of it all. I feel training with KB’s is a life time effort for me. I feel stronger, look at my body in a better light, flaws and all. I maintain my weight with KB’s and see toning in legs and arms. I love the class.

Several years ago, I incurred a severely torn rotator-cuff and bicep injury that had to be surgically repaired. I was almost forced to quit doing traditional weight/strength training at the gym, martial arts training, skiing, gardening, and ordinary housework. Physical therapy had long reached its limits and did not help. I had been doing Pilates and Gyrotonic, which helped gain strength and reduce the pain, when I learned that Kris was going to start a Kettlebell class. I was wary about attempting it with my damaged tendon, but her reports that she had old injuries that were improved from Kettlebell training convinced me to enroll for the first introductory course. I was certain that I would never advance beyond that 4K, which seemed so heavy that first week. I had to use my opposite hand to help the bad arm get that bell up in a snatch and Kris helped modify some of the moves for me. There were many aches and pains those first few weeks, but Kris's classes were so much fun my classmates and I whined but did not miss class.

In a couple months, I did not need to assist the bad arm. A few months more and I was able to snatch 12K unassisted, swing the 16K overhead, and double arm swing 25+K (and I am 5'1" tall). A long ways from being barely able to lift a cup of water into the microwave or in pain for a week after simply using the vacuum!

Kettlebells meets the need for a tough physical challenge while at the same time is something that can be adjusted to different levels for almost anyone to do. It provides an intense and satisfying strength/aerobic workout. I am very concerned about fitness for general health improvement, muscle and tendon strength to prevent future injury, countering aging effects, decreasing very high work-stress effects, mental well-being, and being able to continue the activities I enjoy. I am amazed how much kettlebells has improved my strength, endurance, overall fitness and appearance (no droopy, jiggly butt with kettlebells!!!!). I dropped my gym membership for using the traditional weight equipment since Kettlebells provides a much superior all-over workout, which I continue to combine with Pilates. It also takes much less time than the gym workouts - a 1-hour class twice a week for kettle bells to get faster, better results for a time-challenged person. The gym equipment would work a few of the same muscles and I would get a bit of bulk in the arm and leg muscles. I know that I am much stronger now in more muscle areas with little bulk.

It has been almost a year since starting kettlebells and the program Kris outlined is providing new challenges that prevent burn-out and from becoming boring and routine. Kris has great professional knowledge, experience, and training that serves to prevent injury and enhance the training. The various ages and abilities of the other devoted class members, plus Kris's energetic personality, ensure a rewarding and fun class experience.

I have been active my entire life. I have put my body through so much with running, biking and many other recreational activities. I met Kris when my wife insisted that I go have a session in the Gyrotonic method I was doubtful on how it would really help me but my hamstrings were getting progressively tighter and I know enough that injury was sure to ensue. I began workouts with Kris with a focus primarily on the Gyrotonic Expansion System. My workouts before starting this work usually resulted in muscular aches and pains. I could not believe how something that did not make me feel horrible after a session could really be doing any “good”. Boy was I wrong. I feel so energized after a session and I can see how it stays with me in my other activities. I was also gradually introduced to the Kettlebell workout. WOW! Now that is what I have been looking for. It is challenging, butt kicking and fun. I have gained strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and endurance. I am grateful to Kris for getting me back on my feet and also pushing me to achieve more.

Kris McFerren has been a part of my professional career for a little over a year now. During this time I have worked with her I have found her to be one of the most organized, professional, business-minded individuals that I have met in this industry. She has a tremendous amount of ambition to succeed with her clients and her business. She keeps very accurate documentation on daily occurrences for her records so that she never fails to know her client’s progress. She is very good at understanding the needs of a business and how to make the best of an establishment for the staff and the clientele. She covers all areas of organization to make a business run successfully for everyone to see clearly. She is also very generous in a way that she will never turn anyone down who is in need of help.

Kris has a very unique way of getting through to her clients through her Physical Therapy. She has adopted a way of thinking that inspires her clients to not only to heal, but continue to work post-rehabilitation with movement that encourages good health in mind and body. Her skills as a Gyrotonic instructor, Pilates instructor, and Kettlebell instructor have given her an ability to achieve above the rest in her field. I have seen Kris tackle certain obstacles with a very objective way of thinking and always come out on top with a dignity of respect and success.

I have found that Kris has been quite an inspiration for me many ways professionally. On a personal note, Kris is a great listener and stays honest. I consider her to be a good friend and colleague.

As one of her mentors, I observed Kris when she first started teaching Pilates. It seemed to be very natural for her! I’m sure this was due, in part, to her figure-skating and physical therapy experience. Since then, Kris has also added the Gyrotonic method and Kettle-bells to her repertoire. Because of her eclectic experience, she has an understanding of the body that few people have. Besides her understanding of the body, her great teaching skills, and her willingness to learn from others, Kris is a kind, generous person who will make you feel safe and will always brighten up your day. You’re in good hands!
